For the third consecutive year, Gualtiero Vanelli, a man with many years of unparalleled family experience in the Carrara marble trade, is collaborating with Leonardo DiCaprio Fundation to support the various initiatives to protect our planet and its inhabitants since 1998 by putting up for auction an exclusive statue of his own creation: Once Upon A Time.

The portrait was created especially for the fourth edition of the LDF gala held, as usual, at the Domaine Bertaud Belieu vineyard in St Tropez, and was then donated to the patron of the Foundation and sold for 800.000 euro, a sum which will be devolved toward the environmental endeavors of the LDF.

The statue, made with pure Statuario marble of Carrara, is called Once Upon A Time and it’s a tribute to Vanelli’s friend Leonardo DiCaprio, and it portrays him as one of his most famous personalities: the melancholic millionaire Jay Gatsby, from the film version directed by Baz Luhrmann in 2013, an adaptation of the like-named nover written by Francis Scott Fitzgerald in 1925, The Great Gatsby.
